THE CUP TRAINING
The Cup program is designed to offer support for girls in poverty. The sessions are run in schools over a four-week period divided into four sessions, where the girls are trained in several topics such as human rights, reproductive health, sex education, team building and empowerment. GIRL SESSION 1: BONDING The first session is about creating a comfortable environment for the girls, given that some of the topics discussed could seem embarrassing. The Cup trainers share their own stories and relevant experiences and girls are individually interviewed so that we understand each girl’s background. GIRL SESSION 2: SEX EDUCATION During the second session general topics about becoming an adolescent are discussed like sex, love, menstruation, contraception, infections, pregnancies, illegal abortions, prostitution and more. GIRL SESSION 3: INTRODUCTION TO THE CUP In the third session the girls are taught about reproductive health and educated about the menstrual cup. Girls who have started their period are given a cup for use. Part of session is devoted to practical training on how to use and take care of the cup. GIRL SESSION 4: EMPOWERMENT The final session in the program is all about empowerment and self-confidence. The girls are trained on their rights as women, citizens of their country and human beings. |
